We are currently calling for expressions of interest from students who would like to be involved. If you have an interest in international law (and I’m assuming you do!) then this might be right up your alley. Once established, the QUT chapter will be student-run, and will be able to set its own agenda to help its members further their interest in international law.

Not only did we raise money and awareness of the need to help the underprivileged gain access to legal resources and get some good exercise in early in the morning, but the QUOTALS walkers, along with the QUT Law staff who registered and walked on the day made up the largest team of walkers there.

QPILCH was very impressed with the contribution and awarded QUOTALS students and staff with a prize of 15 double passes to an oscar-winning movie premiere. Congratulations to everyone involved with the walk, it was a great day and a great cause.

The hypothetical will see media personality Meshel Laurie leading a panel of experts in a lively, yet informative, discussion about diversionary sentencing options, with a focus on Queensland’s Drug Court program. Panel members will include representatives from the magistracy, Legal Aid Queensland, police prosecutions, Queensland Health, Queensland Corrective Services and an academic with expertise in diversionary sentencing programs. The audience will get the chance to ask questions, make comments and learn more about the Drug Court and other diversionary sentencing options.

What: A picturesque 5km walk along the Brisbane River

How Much: Registration is just $5 for students and there are a limited number of faculty-sponsored places (i.e. free) available on a first-in-best-dressed basis so get in fast.

When: Departs the Supreme & District Courts Complex at 7am, 17/05/10
