Careers Guide

QUOTALS realises that the average QUT law (and/or justice) student is not JUST traditional top tier firm material. With the wealth of double degrees that QUT offers, we are future prime ministers, fashion designers, agents, construction managers AND partners all wandering around the 90s yellow walls of C Block. In order to best prepare you, QUOTALS is here and has provided 212 pages of jobs, Job, JOBS in the 2009 QUOTALS Careers Directory. The Mini Careers Guide has tried to match this differentiation. Covering a wealth of different perspectives and knowledge to cover commercial to crim to business to entrepreneur, it’s THE basic starting point for students. Get the real deal on what firms are hiring, who to apply for and what exactly they want in a cover letter, resume and their people.
Our ingenious IT directors have minimised the Directory to make almost half of it available online and we have attached a minimised version just for you. We’ve got pages and pages of international, state, and national firms, government departments, corporate businesses, non-profit organisations and best of all – recommendations from the best in the business all in order to best equip you for the tough year ahead! It details recruitment procedures for the major firms and comprehensive profiles from QUT graduates who have pursued legal careers – in whatever capacity – so as not to lock you into corporate hell (unless you want to be). The Careers Guide provides a vital link between students and the broader legal community.
Hard copies of the complete Careers Directory are available from the office on Level Four for $10 but are quickly running out, so if you want one, email publications@quotals.com asap and we’ll do our best to put one aside.
Take note of Corrs Chambers Westgarth “Top Tips for Writing your Resume” and “Applying for a Resume” by Minter Ellison Lawyers which will make you a perfect candidate for, not only their clerkship and graduate program, but a lot of the others too.
